Duplex And Heat Resistant Crimped Mesh
Velp has extended its crimped woven wire mesh range with 310S heat resistant stainless and 2205 duplex stainless grades. The addition answers demand from cement, sinter and mineral processing plants where standard SS304 screens fail early under thermal cycling and chloride attack.
Crimped mesh is woven with wires that are pre-crimped before assembly, so the wires lock mechanically at each intersection. The result is a self-supporting screen that holds aperture under vibration - the reason it remains the default choice for vibrating screens and trommels.

- Double crimp - both warp and weft pre-crimped for stable aperture in heavy screening.
- Lock crimp - wires deformed over each other at intersections for maximum rigidity and load spread.
- Flat top - smooth upper surface for material flow and decorative finish.

Material Guidance
SS310S resists oxidation up to roughly 1000 C in continuous service, which is why it is used in kiln and sinter applications. 2205 duplex offers roughly double the yield strength of 304 with markedly better chloride stress corrosion resistance, allowing thinner wire or wider aperture for the same load. Velp supplies material certificates with duplex orders and can cut panels to screen frame dimensions with hooked edges ready for tensioning. Where a screen operates under heavy abrasion, the company can also advise on wire diameter against aperture ratio, since a slightly thicker wire in a marginally wider aperture often delivers a longer service life than a fine wire screen that blinds and tears early.
